The sand brittle star Ophiura ophiura is a member of the class Ophiuroidea which is the largest group of echinoderms. We chose this incredible ‘other worldly” creature to help raise awareness of how echinoderms are being affected by microplastics. Marine plastic scientist and doctoral research student Winnie Courtene-Jones, wrote a blog for us back in 2019 about her research into how micro plastics are being eaten by deep sea brittle stars at depths of 2500m.
We thought it was time to bring this to the forefront again to keep awareness raised. Wear your hoodie to spread the message.
The Hoodie
The Brittle Star hoodies are made from 100% beautifully soft organic cotton in a stonewashed finish. They contain no polyester, not even recycled, which means that you won’t be contributing to the microfibres heading to the ocean floor!
The hoodies are a classic, relaxed, unisex, raglan, pullover hoodie. This will be your go to winter warmer that you won’t want to take off.
Screen printed with white planet friendly water based inks, the star hoodie is in stonewashed denim.
We will hand print your hoodie to order, here in Ceredigion. We only use water based inks, which adds to the softness of the Brittle Star Hoodie and also means you can iron over the design.

Hoodie Sizes
The hoodies are a relaxed unisex fit. Available in XS, Small, Medium, Large, XL, XXL and 3XL. Ben is 6ft and wearing the large.
They are machine washable at 30°c

If there are any problems with your Hoodie, you can return it to us in original condition within 14 days for an exchange or full refund.
