Aphetoceras Fine Art Print

The Aphetoceras Fine Art Print – A5 (21 x 14.8 cm)

The Image

Aphetoceras (Aphetoceras americium, Hyatt 1894)

The Aphetoceras was a shelled cephalopod, it lived during the early Ordovician period, from 485 to 458 million years ago. Its form lies about half-way between a cone and a coil. Fossilised shells of Aphetoceras are found in the rocks of North America and Australia. There is very little known about how it lived. But, looking at the behaviour of modern cephalopods, it’s fairly safe to assume, that they were carnivorous.

Material

This giclée print is reproduced from Jake’s original digital drawing.

The image is beautifully printed onto sustainable Hahnemühle Agave 290gsm Fine Art Paper. An eco friendly paper made from resource saving agave sisal fibres. The paper has a delicately defined texture with a pleasant, soft feel.

The artwork is printed using archival quality, Fine Art Trade Guild approved printers, inks and papers. Tests have shown the prints can last over 100 years.

Frame not included.

The print is from an original digital artwork by Jake Hughes.

‘Choosing a prehistoric cephalopod was a difficult decision. There are so many crazy shaped fossil shells that I could have worked from. But the simple open spiral of Aphetoceras called to me in the end.
