The Image
Veined Squid Loligo forbesii (Steenstrup, 1856) – an example of a ‘long-finned squid’
Drawn from a specimen we found at Llanina point, Ceredigion. This squid is one of the UK’s largest cephalopods growing up to nearly a metre long in total length. The name veined squid comes from the wavy patterns running down the sides of the mantle.
Like other squid it rises in large shoals from the depths at night to feed near the surface.
Material
This giclée print is reproduced from Ian’s original pen and ink drawing and will add a talking point to any room.
The prints are beautifully printed onto sustainable Hahnemühle Hemp 290gsm Fine Art Paper. An eco friendly paper, with a natural white tone. It has a subtle surface giving the paper a pleasant, silky feel.
Hemp is a resource saving plant whose robust and long-lasting fibres have been a part of paper production for centuries, most notably used for the Gutenberg Bible and US Declaration of Independence. The image is printed using archival quality, Fine Art Trade Guild approved printers, inks and papers — tests have shown the prints can last over 100 years.
Frame not included.
The prints are from original artworks by Ian Hughes.
