Mauve Stinger – Pelagia noctiluca. This beautiful jelly fish grows up to 10cm across, it has  thin tentacles up to 3m long.

Although the mauve stinger is a small jellyfish, it can certainly pack a powerful punch. Its long tentacles and the warty structures on its ‘bell’ are full of stinging cells, hence its name! Thankfully it’s not common around the UK coast, but with its mauve colourings, it is a beauty.

This giclée print is reproduced from Ian’s original pen and ink drawing and makes an unusual addition to any room.
