Endangered Moths Poster
The Endangered Moths poster, for moth lovers, invertebrate lovers and anyone interested in the conservation of the ‘little guys!
This A3 poster is from Ians watercolour field sketch style drawings and features the following moths, caterpillars and their food plants –
Barberry Carpet Moth Pareulype berberata (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1775) Family Geometridae.
Reddish Buff Moth Acosmetia caliginosa (Hübner, 1813)
Essex Emerald Thetidia smaragdariamaritima (Fabricius, 1787) EXTINCT
These three beautiful moths were part of a conservation project Ian was involved with, working with BIAZA. Thanks to the project the future of the Barberry Carpet Moth is much more secure and we are still growing barberry plants as part of the project. The Reddish Buff Moth hangs on in one location on the Isle of Wight. Sadly it was too late to save the beautiful Essex Emerald from extinction. Shown together, they are a reminder that we all need to play our part in maintaining biodiversity for such beautiful creatures.
